Self-described as a "rabid recycler," artist Sandhi Schimmel Gold creates portraits using take-out menus, junk mail, postcards, business cards, old greeting cards, cruise itineraries -- any such item that might otherwise end up in a recycling bin.
Inspired by glass art and mosaics, she cuts tiny tiles from these items, assembling them according to color to create beautiful works of art. See what new creations Schimmel Gold has rendered from paper waste in her new exhibit, "Sandhi Schimmel Gold: Junk Mail Art."
