Tai Chi Kung (Qigong) is the art of developing internal energy for vitality, a balanced mind and spiritual cultivation. Learn basic knowledge of how to cultivate energy and how breathing can affect and change your emotions.


Eco-Art activities are monthly arts and crafts classes with seasonal, botanical and holiday themes.
Bring the whole family and learn creative new uses for everyday items.

Stepping Stones
July 26, 10:30 a.m. to noon.
$6 adults, $4 children, 2 and under free. Series cost is $15 adults, $10 children, 2 and under free.
Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Make your very own stepping stone and decorate it with recycled glass! You can display your unique mosaic design in your garden, on your patio or even inside your home—the possibilities are endless.

Back to School

Summer's almost over and it’s time to get ready to go back to school! We will be making lunch totes and desk supplies for your stellar students to use throughout the year.

Food Art

Who says you can’t play with your food? In this class we will use fruits and veggies to make art.

This program is designed to promote literacy and environmental awareness among children and to encourage local children to visit the library at the Springs Preserve. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.


Learn more about collecting and observing nature. Legal, ethical and responsible collecting that
focuses on the scientific method and fun will be explored. Each program will involve an activity.
Lessons and activities will be geared towards families with children ages 6 to 14. Children must be
accompanied by a parent or guardian. Space is very limited, so register early.

Arachnids
July 19, 10:30 a.m. to noon.
$6 adults, $4 children, 2 and under free. Series cost is $15 adults, $10 children, 2 and under free.

Come explore the creepy, crawly creatures of the Mojave Desert and beyond! Join Springs Preserve Zoologist Cari Taylor to learn about the interesting ways arachnids survive in our wild world, and how your new knowledge can lead to fun experiences in the Nature Exchange.

Insects
August 16, 10:30 a.m. to noon.
$6 adults, $4 children, 2 and under free. Series cost is $15 adults, $10 children, 2 and under free.

Do you know the difference between an insect and a bug? Springs Preserve Zoologist Cari Taylor will teach families about what makes an insect an insect and how to safely and ethically collect and preserve them for trading in the Nature Exchange.

Birding
September 20, 10:30 a.m. to noon.
$6 adults, $4 children, 2 and under free. Series cost is $15 adults, $10 children, 2 and under free.

Even though the Nature Exchange does not accept birds in any form, including nests and feathers, journaling about birds is encouraged. Come and learn the ins and outs of birdwatching, including some of the best local spots, basic avian biology and how to create journals using images that will get you the most points for your Nature Exchange account.


August 4 through 8, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
$150 members, $175 non-members. Includes one parent/guardian and one child; $75 members, $100 non-members for each additional child or adult. All ages welcome.

In this exciting and hands-on half-day camp, families will make stylish musical instruments and
imaginative oversized puppets from found objects and recycled materials. Local artist and musician
Suzanne Lugano will lead activities throughout the week, leaving you with a lifetime of fun family
memories and enhancing your child's environmental awareness. At least one parent or guardian per
family is required. Space is limited, so be sure to register early.


August 11 through 15, 10 a.m. to noon.
$100 members, $120 non-members.
Ages 5 to 7.
In this week-long camp experience designed especially for children ages 5 to 7, young learners will
participate in fun, creative and hands-on activities that will allow them to explore and appreciate one
of the Earth's most precious resources: water.


Some of the Preserve’s best-kept secrets can be uncovered on foot! These free, guided tours are limited to the first 25 participants and are included with general admission or free for Annual Pass members. Whether you step back in time on our historical walks or take a walk on the wild side with our ecological restoration experts, these guided tours have something for everyone. Bring a sense of adventure, sensible footwear and at least two bottles of water. Meet your guide at the podium near the Box Office. No reservations accepted.

Archaeology & History Exhibits Tour
Wednesdays through September 3, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

This indoor version of our walking tour will highlight the innovative interactive exhibits in our Origen Galleries. Special emphasis will be placed on interpreting the archaeology of the Springs Preserve and the cultural history of the Las Vegas Valley.

Archaeology & History Walking Tour
Wednesdays beginning September 10, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Think the history of Las Vegas began with the construction of the mega-resorts on the Las Vegas Strip? In fact, Las Vegas has more than 5,000 years of history that you can explore at the Springs Preserve. This tour will highlight archaeological/historical elements found at the Preserve and the role of the Springs in Las Vegas history. We'll answer the age-old question, "How did we get here?"

Sustainability Walking Tour
Fridays, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Learn about the many ways you can adopt a more sustainable lifestyle. From architecture to interior
design to water-smart landscaping, the Springs Preserve is a sustainable oasis. Until the weather begins to cool down, we'll spend more of our time focusing on sustainable interiors.

Ecological Restoration Walking Tour
Mondays beginning September 8, 12:30 to 2 p.m.

Native landscapes, habitats and wildlife at the "Birthplace of Las Vegas" are thriving again thanks to efforts by scientists at the Preserve. Learn more about these and other achievements as well as future plans.
