The Springs Preserve provides a variety of classes introducing simple steps to take to live more sustainably. From energy efficiency to organic cooking to sustainable art projects, our Sustainable Living classes have something for everyone. Reservations are required. Green isn’t just a color anymore, it’s a way of life. The Springs Preserve is an example of putting principles of sustainability into practice as well as a resource for those interested in ‘greening’ their lifestyle. Join Jeff Roberts, architect of the Preserve’s Desert Living Center, as he highlights the sustainable technologies behind the scenes.

Curious about adopting a more sustainable lifestyle but unsure where to begin? This tour will focus on the Preserve’s Sustainability Gallery and Design Lab to introduce participants to the first steps toward preserving both your money and the earth’s resources.

Go green with your hobbies! Join the Preserve’s Sustainable Knitting Group. Bring your knitting projects, and meet other knitters interested in using sustainable and organic yarns. Knitters (and crocheters!) of all skill levels are welcome.


Green eggs and ham isn't the only way to cook "green." In this series of classes hosted by Chef Peter Sherlock of the Springs Café by Wolfgang Puck, participants will learn how to cook with the seasons, shop for organic meats and produce, and create delicious meals that contribute to a sustainable lifestyle.

Cool Treats

When the desert summer heats up, we begin to look for ways to cool down. This class will introduce you to self-preservation with taste and style: During this exploration of cool treats for summer, Chef Sherlock will share a wide variety of recipes designed to take your mind off the heat.

Brown Bag Lunches

A bagged lunch can be a healthy and sustainable alternative to fast food and cafeteria fare. Whether you're going back to school or headed to the office, Chef Sherlock will demonstrate how you can prepare exciting and affordable lunches for everyone. Break out of the cycle of boring sandwiches and bagged chips and join us for lunch!

Summer may be winding down come September, but our mild climate means any time is a good time for barbecue. Get ready to be a certified grillmaster, as Chef Sherlock dedicates the evening to all things barbecue, from grilled veggies to grilled meat and sauces to tempt your taste buds.
