The Springs Preserve Young Learners program features hands-on, fun activities. In addition to classes, workshops and programs for school-aged youth beginning in the fall, there are a variety of activities designed specifically for young Preserve visitors.
Escape into a recreated desert canyon environment. Oversized replicas of wildlife are inside the playground, including a peregrine falcon perched high upon a rock, a skeleton of a wooly mammoth partially buried in the sand and a concrete sidewinder snake winding through the canyon walls.
Young collectors bring in found items such as shells, rocks, bark, pinecones and more. Collectors earn points for their items. These points can be banked or used to take home another item from the Exchange. The Exchange encourages responsible and ethical collecting. The Exchange does not accept live animals, items that come from endangered or threatened species or items from the Springs Preserve site. If you have questions, please call (702) 822-7759 to check with us before you bring the items.
The New Frontier Gallery, inside the ORIGEN Experience, is filled with arcade games and activities that highlight sustainability. Create your own public service announcement. Play a true-false trivia game about the City of Las Vegas. Be a part of the Sustainables, super heroes whose mission is to locate and destroy the evil gremlin McSquanderers who are wasting household energy resources.
The Live Exhibits present desert animals and how they adapt to the extreme temperatures of the desert. View a desert cottontail rabbit up close. Watch desert tortoises, kangaroo rats, pocket gophers and a gray fox in their underground burrows. Visit the live bat cave.
