The trails wind through more than 1.8 miles of Stand where several generations of people refreshed themselves in the Big Springs—springs that once bubbled to the surface so forcefully that swimmers floated like buoys, unable to sink.
The Crossroads Trail takes you past the remains of the Big Springs Springhouse, which was built to keep people and animals out of the spring and protect the water supply.
This trail also explores the environmental factors that determine plant life in the Las Vegas Valley and an operational water reservoir, offering an appreciation for the immense task of supplying water to Las Vegas.
