Volunteer Assignments

There are a variety of volunteer opportunities at the Springs Preserve. Below is a general list of assignments.

Audio Visual

Volunteers assist setting up audio visual (A/V) equipment, technology and production rooms for ongoing operations.

Docent

Greet and direct visitors and enhance their experience in the museums, Trails, Gardens and Activity Center. Learn and share information about the history of the people of the Big Springs, plant and animal life in the Mojave Desert and conservation and sustainable living.

Gardens Support and Horticulture

Perform a variety of gardening tasks, including planting, mulching, watering and cleaning seed.

Greeter

Welcome visitors to the Preserve, direct them to the attractions and answer questions.

Library

Research and identify books for visitors and staff, catalog books, help visitors scan documents, and check out books. Organize books, periodicals and media collections as well as assist with story time.

Nature Exchange

Volunteers help in the Nature Exchange's unique learning environment, where visitors of all ages can trade items found in nature such as fossils, shells, dead insects and plants.

School Tours

Meet and greet teachers and children visiting as part of school tours. Lead the groups on the tours, activities and discussions.

Special Events

Enjoy the many special events at the Preserve and help by answering questions, directing visitors and other event-specific assignments.
