Board of Trustees
The Springs Preserve Board of Trustees is responsible for creating policy and overseeing management of the Springs Preserve. The Board of Trustees comprises representatives from the Las Vegas Valley Water District Board of Directors, the Springs Preserve Foundation Board of Directors, the Las Vegas City Council, the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents, and Nevada historical and humanities interests.
Trustees
Clark County Commissioner Justin Jones was elected to the Clark County Commission in January 2019.
Jones served in the Nevada State Senate as an assistant majority whip from 2012 to 2014.
He has provided pro bono representation to child victims of domestic abuse and neglect through the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada's Children's Attorney Project. He also has served as chair on the Volunteer Center of Southern Nevada and Battle Born Progress, as a board member for United Way of Southern Nevada and Emerge Nevada, and as a founding board member of Nevadans for Background Checks.
Jones has been a practicing attorney in Nevada since graduating from George Washington University Law School in 2001. Before entering private practice, Commissioner Jones served as a law clerk to the Honorable Roger L. Hunt of the United States District Court, District of Nevada.

Board of Trustees Vice Chair Jenna Morton is a co-owner of Morton Group, a restaurant development company with venues in Las Vegas, including La Cave Wine and Food Hideaway inside Wynn Resort; La Comida, a Mexican joint in downtown Las Vegas, and CRUSH eat, drink, love in the MGM Grand Resort.
She is a graduate of Northwestern University. She is the co-chair of After School All-Stars Las Vegas and a member of the Board of Directors for Community Cloud Forest Conservation.
Amy J. Carvalho was elected to serve District 12 on the Board of Regents in November 2018, reelected in November 2024 to serve an additional term of four years, and is currently Chair of the Board.
Regent Carvalho and her husband, Tom, are long-time business owners. Her entrepreneurial ventures include owning and managing residential investment properties, portfolio management for other real estate investors, operating a successful coffee shop, and owning and operating franchised retail stores. She is most proud as a business owner when she can give back to her community.
Actively involved in community service, she has served as both a member and past president of the Boulder City Sunrise Rotary Club and as chairperson on the Boulder City Library District Board of Trustees. She also served two terms on the Nevada Department of Education's Council to Establish Academic Standards and three terms on the 7-Eleven National Business Leadership Council (specifically the Servant Leadership, Facilities Maintenance, and Digital Transformation committees).
Regent Carvalho has been a student of Southern Nevada since fifth grade, when her father was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base. She is a graduate of Rancho High School, the College of Southern Nevada, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology. Regent Carvalho also completed her Master of Business Administration from Western Governors University.
She is the proud parent of two children.
Katarina Gale is the co-founder of GreenGale Farms, a 40-acre Las Vegas-based farm, animal sanctuary, and event venue.
She holds a Master of Science in Bioresource Engineering from McGill University, specializing in water resources management, and a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, focusing on biodiversity and conservation.
Katarina’s background includes work with the United Nations, non-profit organizations focused on water management, and the private aerospace sector, where she specialized in remote sensing and unmanned aerial systems. She was also the founder and CEO of The Neon Muse, a fashion technology company creating custom light-up apparel.
Brian Knudsen was sworn into office in July 2019 as the Councilman for Ward 1. Councilman Knudsen has more than 15 years of experience in city and state governments as well as time spent as the chief executive officer of a large nonprofit organization and as the owner of a small business. His experience covers multiple functions of government and nonprofit organizations and has focused on creating efficiencies, strategic planning and policy development.
Councilman Knudsen has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Utah in health education and mass communications. He also has a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Southern California and a master's degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Brian and his husband have two children.
Commissioner William McCurdy II was elected to the Clark County Commission in 2020 and sworn in for his first term on Jan. 4, 2021, and re-elected to his second term for 2025, Commissioner of District D. He was selected by his peers to serve as vice-chairman of the Board of County Commissioners on Jan. 2, 2024. Commissioner McCurdy previously served two terms (2016-2020) in the Nevada State Legislature as the representative for Assembly District 6.
During his tenure as Assemblyman, he was elected as the first African American and youngest chair of the Nevada State Democratic Party. Significant legislation introduced by McCurdy II improved education, public safety, healthcare and economic development. While at the Legislature, he served as vice chairman of the Government Affairs Committee and was a member of the Commerce and Labor and Legislative Operations and Elections committees. Additionally, he served on the Homeland Security Commission.
Prior to his service in the Nevada Legislature, McCurdy II was an organizer with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) where he elevated to state political director.
McCurdy II is a native Las Vegan, born in the very Commission District he now proudly represents. He holds an Associate's degree from the College of Southern Nevada and a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. McCurdy II is a proud husband to his wife, Susie McCurdy and father to their three children.

Rory Reid is currently the founding partner of the Law Office of Rory Reid. His law practice focuses on government relations, real estate, and state and local permitting with a particular emphasis on the energy sector. He also serves as President and Chief Operating Officer of The Rogers Foundation.
Reid was raised in Southern Nevada and educated in its public schools. He has been active as both a business and civic leader in the community and on the boards of several civic organizations.
Reid was elected to the Clark County Commission in 2002 and was appointed its Chairman in 2005 and 2007. The Commission oversees the nation's 14th largest county, which includes the Las Vegas Strip. During his tenure, Reid championed economic development, ethics reform, open government, and improved social services.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal named Reid its "Best Local Politician" in 2007, and he was the Democratic nominee for Governor of Nevada in 2010 and was named among the "Best Lawyers in America" in 2012. He has received numerous other awards and recognitions for his extensive service.

A third-generation Nevadan and a fourth-generation Nevada state representative, Tick Segerblom joined the Clark County Commission in January 2019. He previously served in the state Assembly from 2006 to 2012 and as a state senator from 2012 to 2018.
Before entering politics in Nevada, Segerblom served in the White House Personnel Office for President Jimmy Carter. He was later appointed by former Nevada Governor Richard Bryan to the Colorado River Commission, where he served from 1988 to 1990. In 1990, he was elected to a four-year term as state chair of the Nevada Democratic Party.
A graduate of Pomona College in California and the University of Denver Law School, Segerblom practices law, specializing in employee-employer relations.

A decorated journalist and historian, Bob Stoldal started his 40-year career in broadcast news as a reporter and anchor at KLAS-TV in 1967. He was promoted to News Director a year later and named Vice President of News in 1998 after launching the 24-hour news operation, Las Vegas ONE.
After a short retirement in 2008, Stoldal became Vice President of News for the Sunbelt Corporation overseeing news operations for television stations in Las Vegas, Reno and Elko. In 2014, Stoldal retired for a second time but remains very active in several community organizations.
Stoldal is Chairman of the Boards of the Nevada Independent and the Nevada State Museum and Historical Society. He also serves on the boards of the Las Vegas City Historical Preservation Commission on Tourism, the Mob Museum and the Nevada State Commission on Cultural Affairs and Historic Places to name a few.
Stoldal was honored as the “Distinguished Nevadan” by the University of Nevada Board of Regents in 2020 for his contributions to the cultural and social advancement of Nevada and its people.

Anne Mazzola is a licensed interior designer whose projects have included the CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, the Pentagon, Nortel Networks, Sun Microsystems, Cox Communications, and the National Wildlife Federation.
Anne grew up in Vienna, Virginia, and graduated from Drexel University cum laude. She and her husband have two young children. Prior to moving to Las Vegas in 2008, Anne worked throughout the Washington, D.C. area for 15 years.
Since relocating here, she has immersed herself in a wide variety of charities such as the Alexander Dawson School, Boys and Girls Club, Smith Center, Discovery Children's Museum, Communities in Schools, Opportunity Village and the San Diego Zoo. Anne is also a member of the Desert Tortoise Group of Southern Nevada, adopting a 24 year old tortoise named Larry Byrd.
Elizabeth Sorokac is an owner and founder of the law firm of Reisman Sorokac. Ms. Sorokac has been practicing law in Nevada for more than 20 years. She received her Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University and her Juris Doctor from Gonzaga University School of Law.
A member of the State Bar of Nevada and the Clark County Bar Association, Ms. Sorokac is also a graduate of the Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Las Vegas program (2012). Past Board memberships include the Anti-Defamation League and Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada. Currently she serves on an advisory committee to the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada and a Board Member of the Nevada Acro Foundation and Aberdeen at Southern Highlands Homeowners Association.

Luther B. Adair II, MD, is principal owner of Nashville Radiology Partners. Dr. Adair has a medical degree from Meharry Medical College and a B.S. in Psychology from Morehouse College. He and his wife started The Adair Family Foundation in 2016 to help support organizations which foster early STEAM development in education and provide scholarships for students seeking education in these fields. Dr. Adair has also had an opportunity to advise various companies in Silicon Valley by creating applications for radiology utilizing artificial intelligence (machine learning), and serves as chair of the Abdominal Imaging Panel for the artificial intelligence section of the American College of Radiology.
A Nevada resident since 1989, Maggie Carlton was the longest-serving woman legislator in Nevada's history. She was elected to the Nevada State Senate in 1998, where she served for 12 years. She served another 12 years in the State Assembly. After a distinguished 24 years in the Legislature, Maggie was appointed to the Nevada State Board of Education in 2023.
Maggie’s long history of public service includes serving on the Southern Nevada Water Authority’s Citizen’s Water Quality Advisory Committee and working for the Great Basin Primary Care Association and United Labor Agency of Nevada, a nonprofit organization overseen by the Nevada State AFL-CIO. A wife and mom of two daughters, Maggie was also a Girl Scout Leader, a Sunday school teacher and an active member of the PTA. Former Governor Brian Sandoval recently nominated Maggie to receive an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters.
A commercial litigator with Brownstein, Max Fetaz represents his clients in state and federal court in complex securities and mergers and acquisitions disputes. His knowledge of Nevada's corporate governance statutes allows him to successfully represent both privately held and publicly traded companies. Max also has broad experience in defending manufacturers against product liability claims, securing fair outcomes under Nevada's public procurement laws, representing companies in the state's burgeoning cannabis industry and pursuing contract claims in the field of gaming.
Prior to Brownstein, Max served as a law clerk to the Honorable Elizabeth G. Gonzalez (Ret.), of the Business Court for the Eighth Judicial District Court.
Craig Rosen is a seasoned professional in community engagement, project management, informal education, and administration. As Community Outreach Manager for NV Energy's Integrated Energy Services, he connects with communities statewide through events and presentations while serving on numerous boards and committees.
Previously, Rosen led K-12 STEAM initiatives at the Desert Research Institute, developed Nevada's STEM Strategic Plan, and created bilingual education programs for NASA. He also directed the Las Vegas and Northern Nevada Science and Technology Festivals, engaging thousands in science exploration. In addition, he was lead consultant for the Union for Reform Judaism focusing on informal education and has been the Director of Education at schools in both Las Vegas, NV and Santa Barbara, CA.
Rosen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education and Psychology from CSUN and a Masters in Urban Leadership from UNLV. He is married and enjoys exploring STEM/STEAM with his daughter.
Susan Splan is the Vice President/Professional Banking Relationship Manager for Nevada State Bank. She has more than 21 years of banking experience and holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Colorado at Denver.
Having lived in Southern Nevada for over 16 years, Susan enjoys giving back to her community by promoting wellness and encouraging others to live a healthier, more active lifestyle.
In addition to the Springs Preserve Foundation Board, Susan holds affiliations with the following organizations: Sage Collegiate Public Charter School Board, Academy of Finance Mentor Program – Clark High School, Las Vegas Leadership Advance, Southern Nevada Association of Women Attorneys, Latino Bar Association, American Association of Legal Administrators, Southern Nevada Dental Society, and the Clark County Medical Society Alliance.
As executive director of the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District, Kelvin Watson has brought innovative, award-winning leadership to Nevada’s largest library system and his deep experience in fundraising, technology, program development, and demonstrated success in addressing the digital divide has brought a new era to this library system.
Regarded as one of the most highly respected thought leaders in the library industry, Kelvin started his career as a Commissioned Officer in the Active U.S. Army and Army Reserves, later transitioning to the private sector as a leader with Ingram Library Services, Borders Group, and The Library Corporation (TLC).
Throughout his career, he has remained active as a speaker and panelist at conferences and an author of articles in national library publications. He serves on the San Jose State University School of Information, Leadership, and Management Program Advisory Committee, co-chairs the American Library Association Digital Content Working Group, and serves on the American Library Association Business Advisory Group, REALM Project Steering Committee, and on the Board of the Book Industry Study Group. He is a past president of Black Caucus of the American Library Association and past Public Library Association Board member.
Kelvin earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Minor in Military Science from Lincoln University in Missouri. He earned his MLS Degree from North Carolina Central University. Kelvin is also a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and Beta Phi Mu Honor Society.
