Event Information
- Date & Time: Friday, Oct. 31, 2025, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Most activities begin at 10 a.m. Last entry at 3 p.m.
- Location: Springs Preserve (Free parking at the Preserve, with overflow parking at Meadows Mall)
- Admission: *FREE for Nevada residents with valid ID. General admission fees apply to out-of-state visitors.
- RSVP: No reservations required. We recommend arriving early, as we expect a large turnout.
What better place to celebrate Nevada Day than at the birthplace of Las Vegas? Residents enjoy FREE* general admission, explorations at the Nevada State Museum, and 180 acres of Nevadan nature.
Activities include:
- Nevada Ghost Town Storytime: Hear the story of various rough and tumble Nevada ghost towns in an old-time story telling setting. 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m.
- Nevada Pub-Style Trivia: Live pub-style quiz on facts about Nevada, from history and geography, to state symbols and nature. Prize for each time slot winner! 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12 p.m., 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3 p.m.
- Native Flower Seed Balls: A seed ball is a marble-sized ball made of clay, soil, and seeds used to replant areas where you want native plants. We will use native Nevada wildflower seeds for this activity!
- Sagebrush Fingerprint Craft: Learn about our state flower, the sagebrush, and create one using inkpads.
- Nevada License Plate Gallery: Explore vintage Nevada license plate designs and create your own license plate.
- Nevada Fun Facts—2 Truths & 1 Lie: Identify the fallacy in a set of three Nevada fun facts.
- Nevada Nicknames Toss: Match Nevada nicknames to their origin source in a bean bag toss game.
- Nevada Gold Panning: Recreate the early days of Nevada, where the territory started by placer mining for heavy metals near Comstock Lode. Experience panning for "gold" (iron pyrite).
- Mt. Charleston Blue Butterfly: Informational drop-in about the endangered Mt. Charleston blue butterfly. Visitors can interact with the booth while waiting to enter the Butterfly Habitat.
- Ask an Archaeologist: Guests can meet with a staff archaeologist while exploring the new Nuwu Pahsats garden.
- Attendees will be subject to metal detector screening.
- The Springs Preserve is a cashless venue. Guests can use valid debit or credit cards, or mobile wallets.
